thoughts.

This life is full of endless possibilities.
I feel like there is so much out there.
Sooo much I’ve yet to experience.
My body, mind and soul craves to experience the unknown.
I haven’t always been like this.
I’ve always been the shy little girl.
Always hidden within my comfort zone.
Afraid of change.
Sometimes, I surprise myself how much I’ve truly come out of my shell.
Experiences will do that to you.
Good and bad ones.
They change you.
I have to say though, I’ve fallen in love with life.
My life.
Trust me, I’m not saying my life is perfect.
But…I’ve reached a point where my heart is somewhat content for the moment.
I no longer dwell in the fact I’m nowhere near where I thought I’d be at this point in my life.
Married…baby…house.
One day, I’ll have someone to share a life with, and it will be right.
Someone that will make his home inside my heart and stay a while. (forever)
And of course I would love to be a mother.
What better honor than to carry another human being and them love you unconditionally?
I don’t pray the same type of prayers.
I feel like God knows.
He just knows.
He planted these desires in my heart.
This year, I promised myself to just roll with the punches.
Just to be present and not stress so much about the future.
Every day brings something new.
That’s the beautiful thing about life.
Change.
Growth.
And all that other gushy stuff.

I want a man that...

loves God more than he loves me.

will make silly YouTube videos with me.

knows I'll love him as much as humanly possible, but God will always be my #1.

has goals for himself, us as a couple, and dreams big.

plays golf with my dad.

is kind and respectful to others.

understands my obsession with Lifetime.

knows I’ll be his biggest advocate.

will take me to sporting events and explain the rules of the game to me.

can make me laugh until I pee my pants.

likes to brag about what a good woman he has. (I promise to do the same)

knows how to use a set of tools.

knows his way around the kitchen.

pays attention to my wants and needs.

will love my huge head of messy, curly hair.

won't get mad when he sees strands of my curly hair on the wall in the shower.

opens doors and my chair for me.

will hold my hand when I’m scared, or just because he feels like it.

let’s me put my cold feet on his, so mine can get warm.

has manners.

will tell me I’m beautiful, especially on the days I feel ugly.

will let me sleep-in on Saturday mornings sometimes.

prays with me.

be understanding that I am not a morning person whatsoever.

can handle my corniness.

will stay by my side during the good and not so good times.

cuddle with me. everyday.

can deal with my crazy family during the holidays.

will understand he should have expectations of his own.

knows i will always respect him and those expectations.

will workout with me.

lives a healthy lifestyle.

won’t be afraid to open up his heart to me and let me in.

will accept my friends as his own.

fixes me breakfast in bed.

will support, motivate and challenge me.

respects my mind, body and heart.

understands my obsession with taking tooo many pictures, and doesn’t mind being my subject sometimes.

realizes I’m human and will make mistakes sometimes.

will forgive me when I make these mistakes, and I promise to do the same.

will just love me for me.

truth moment.

A fellow blogger inspired me to write this post…a post I've neglected to write out of fear. Megan wrote the most honest post a blogger could. She talked about how real the devil truly is. He exists.

She said… “The devil knows us inside and out. He knows the doubts that we have about ourselves and the insecurities that we are facing. He waits for moments when we are weak and hurting, and then tries to launch an attack, making us question ourselves, our friends/family, our world and our God.”

Megan asked her readers to comment with any lies/lie the devil tells them. The devil often tells me the same things…his deceitful ways try to get a hold of me and often tug at my heart, making me question God’s ways...

...I’ll never be as pretty or skinny as her
...I’m not smart enough
...I’m not qualified enough for that job
...I’ll be single forever
...I’ll never have the chance to be a mother
...I ruined my one chance of true love in my last relationship
...Moving away from North Carolina was the worst decision
...I’m not strong enough to be alone
...I’ll never truly love myself
...My heart will never fully heal
...God doesn’t care about my needs and wants

"The quickest way to change your attitude toward pain is to accept the fact that everything that happens to us has been designed for our spiritual growth."
- M. Scott Peck

I know the devil is very much so alive and he uses my mind as his playground, but sometimes I forget how powerful he really is. He feeds on my weakness and insecurities and desperately tries to steer me away from God’s amazing grace. In the past two years, my heart has ached to know God and have a relationship with Him. God saw the strong hold the devil had on me a couple years ago, and He spoke into my heart…asking me put all of my faith in Him. Let me tell you…I’m not the same woman I was three years ago. No, I haven’t changed…I’ve grown. I’ve grown spiritually. And, that is an amazing feeling...

When this job offer was presented to me last July, I didn’t whole-heartily want it. I knew it was a wonderful career move, but I was scared to remove myself from my comfort zone. I prayed about the decision to accept the job offer or not. A whole week I heard nothing. I asked God to give me a sign…do I take the job or not? During these couple of days the devil tempted me with his evil thoughts…you can imagine what lies he told me. Finally, the day before I had to give the company my decision, He spoke. He told me to move. This was the first time in my life where I truly felt God’s presence in my life. When He tells you to move, you move. Honestly, it was kinda scary at first. Shortly, after I felt peace and sense of calmness. God was trying to answer my prayers…He knew I craved an imitate relationship with Him, and the only way to have that was to make this move…alone. I had to learn to rely on Him.

God was rescusing me during a time I allowed my feelings to rob me of my joy and happiness. As I’ve of said before, this move hasn’t been easy. Honestly, this was the hardest thing I've ever done. I left everything I knew to come to the unknown. I left my family, my friends, my first love, job...everything. The first couple months the devil certainly had a hold on me. It was so difficult to ignore Him. I have never spoken to God so much in my life. I have never pleaded with Him so much…crying my eyes out every single night. I felt like He had abandon me after telling me to make this life changing decision. Looking back, He was there all along. All the nights I cried myself to sleep...He was there. He knew moving me to this new place would be a beautiful struggle. A struggle I desperately needed.

I’ve learned to trust God in sooo many new ways, despite what the devil tries to tell me. The devil caused me to question God’s glory and love for me. God removed situations/people in my life for my own good. At my weakest moment, I realized God wants to be a part of the growing process with me. He wants me to lean on His understanding…not mine. He knows how uncomfortable this season in my life has been, but still He remain present in my life. He is molding me into the woman He created me to be. There’s a sense of peace knowing I’m where I’m supposed to be. Don’t get me wrong, every day is no walk in the park and the devil tries to stray me away from the man upstairs…I refuse to give into his evil ways. It’s a struggle as you know, but God always remains faithful.

I’ve learned to embrace this season I’m in and have faith that God’s will be done in my life. The devil often tells me, I’m all alone and will be single for the rest of my life. I’ll never experience God’s gift of becoming a mother. All lies, but these lies hurt. God knows what my heart desires and in His perfect time…he’ll either answer my prayers or reveal something much better. He is the only person who can truly fulfill us…bring joy, happiness, and love in our lives. If only we let Him. If only we trust in His ways. He knows this can be difficult for us. Of course, He knows…He created us. Sometimes, I forget God knows every detail and every inch of me. I will never forget how much He loves me, forgives me and continuously gives me countless opportunities to learn the lesson He has set before me.

I am so thankful for the people God has placed in my life. Especially, all of the beautiful Christian women whom inspire me and help me grow as a Christian. Thank you!

My amazing co-worker and friend said this to me this morning… “And, for what it’s worth, I pray for you and all of my friends every night….that you always find what you seek, and receive what you so richly deserve.” And, this is what I pray for all of you.

gratitude, love and change.

my heart is so full.
i've finally come to peace with being in pa.
God has been with me along this difficult journey, and He
continues to guide me on this amazing adventure.
my heart is full because...
He is answering my prayers.
of course on His time, not mine.
God is continuously giving me a loving and forgiving heart.
i feel it. and, this makes me so happy.
i've asked Him to change me.
to help me become the woman i was created to be.
slowly, but surely He is doing just that.
this makes my heart smile. BIG.
God, knows i'm not perfect nor do i try...
but, everyday He gives me another chance to do better.
to learn. to grow. to love. to smile. to spread His word.
my heart is so full because.. He loves me more than i can imagine.
this move to pa has certainly made me cling onto my faith,
and i have no plans on letting go.
i wonder if this was His plan all along.
He is the glue in my life.
i'm overwhelmed with gratitude.
what an amazing feeling...words cannot describe.

i pray everyday for all of my bloggie friends...
you guys certainly have helped me during this chapter in my life as well :)

guest post: Courtney from Eric and Courtney.

Hello dolls!

I'm soooooo excited to have one of my favorite bloggers, Courtney,
taking over my blog today! She is so cute and one of the sweetest people I know! I absolutely love reading all about her love life. Oh lala ;)
Her blog is one of my favorite reads so please hop over and check it out!

Without further ado, Courtney . . .

Beautiful Courtney and her husband Eric.

Hi there! I'm so excited to be taking over for Ashley's blog; while she's moving!

Let's be honest, I'd much rather be blogging than moving.... or am I the only one who
hates moving? Haha :)

So the plan was to share some dating tips, but after reading; my story I'm thinking
you won't want to take any advice from me. I'm going to share the first date that lead to
the rest of my life, and you'll see that I did it all wrong...

Boy texts girl and asks her on a date.

Girl can't think of a good reason to say no, so she texts back telling him she has time
for dinner but MUST be home before it's dark so that she can go running.

Boy gets lost on his way to pick girl up, and girl calls him and teases him about it.

Boy is a little flustered and embarrassed.

Boy asks girl if she wants Cafe Rio for dinner. Girl says no. Boy gets more flustered.

Boy asks girl what she'd like to do. Girl tells him he better figure this out since he's the
one that wanted to go out.

Boy asks girl if she'd like to go eat at Olive Garden. Girl says no.

Flustered boy runs a red light. Girl tells him that she is scared for her life because
 his driving sucks.

Boy exclaims that he's too busy focusing on her.... and freaks girl out.

Boy asks if she'd like to get chinese take out and go eat at a park.

Girls says yes. Boy is relieved.

Once boy and girl have food in their bellies, they end up talking for hours past dark.

10 months later.... girl who never wanted to go out with boy in the first place, and boy
who thought girl was the biggest snob on earth, were married and will spend eternity
 with each other.

The dating advice I would've shared goes something like this: If you're going to lie,
don't get caught. I was definitely not planning on running after dinner, that was just
my "out" to end the lame date. Talking hours past dark kinda blew my cover.
He knew exactly what kind of excuse that was :)

Don't under mind your date. Let him feel like a man, he needs that confidence for a first date.
Teasing him for getting lost, and telling him his driving sucks was not the smartest thing
I've ever done.

If you're date chooses a delicious restaurant for dinner, there is no need to turn him down
Honestly, who says no to Cafe Rio?? What a pain I was!

Save the attitude and sass that we (ladies) all have for later dates.
I have nothing to say about this except.. I failed again.

See what I mean? I did it all wrong.

Luckily, it all worked out for me in the end :)
Eric and I have been married for over 3 years, and can't wait to see what our future holds!

If you'd like to read more about us, come visit the http://barbieandkenbrinkerhoff.blogspot.com/">blog anytime.
We love making new friends :)

Thank you sooooooo much, Courtney!

Hope you guys enjoyed Miss Courtney's guest post today! I sure did!

one flaw in women.

Women have strengths that amaze men.

They bear hardships and they carry burdens,
but they hold happiness, love and joy.

They smile when they want to scream.

They sing when they want to cry.

They cry when they are happy and laugh when they are nervous.

They fight for what they believe in.

They stand up to injustice.

They don't take "no" for an answer when they believe there is a better solution.

They go without so their family can have.

They go to the doctor with a frightened friend.

They love unconditionally.

They cry when their children excel and cheer when their friends get awards.

They are happy when they hear about a birth or a wedding.

Their hearts break when a friend dies.

They grieve at the loss of a family member, yet they are
strong when they think there is no strength left.

They know that a hug and a kiss can heal a broken heart.

Women come in all shapes, sizes and colors.

They'll drive, fly, walk, run or e-mail you to show how much they care about you.

The heart of a woman is what makes the world keep turning.

They bring joy, hope and love.

They have the compassion and ideas.

They give moral support to their family and friends.

Women have vital things to say and everything to give.

HOWEVER, IF THERE IS ONE FLAW IN WOMEN,
IT IS THAT THEY FORGET THEIR WORTH.

y'all are simply amazing.
don't ever forget that :)

stripes, stars, elevators and love.

today is Flag Day...just in case you didn't notice it on your calendar.

God bless America.

there is nothing that makes me smile more, than a gentleman holding or opening a door for a lady, pulling out a chair or my personal favorite, holding the elevator. i work on the fifth floor of a huge building, so with so many people its very rare people hold the elevator. however, this morning an older gentleman saw me come in (probably heard my heels...sooo loud) lol, and he held the elevator for me. maybe, its just the southern in me, but manners can take you a longggggg way! especially, a gentleman. because most younger men just aren't how they use to be. how do i know? i work with a bunch of older woman and hear all the time how much times have changed. haha, its funny to hear older people say that and then proceed to share stores of their past. i just really appreciate kind, yet simple gestures like this morning. :)

seeing or hearing about marriages that last almost a lifetime are truly inspiring.

love is such a beautiful thing. it really is.

can you imagine being married to your soumate for 57 years?

Encouraging Word
Let all that I am praise the Lord; may I never forget the good things he does for me.
He forgives all my sins and heals all my diseases. - Psalm 103:2-3 NLT

i'm a hopeless romantic and a huge sucker for l.o.v.e...
{don't judge me for my sick, strange, totally not normal
obsession with these celebrity couple...pppleeeasse}

jT and jessica biel are constantly photographed running together.
i think its cool that they workout together so much.

khole and lamar are too darn cute to me.
they seem to balance each other out so well.
can't wait too see what they're babies will look like.

justin bev and selena...who doesn't love young love?
they've been caught kissing just about everywhere. lol.

j.lo and marc = serious powerhouse couple.

they always speak so highly of each other
and always look so happy together.

victoria and david took over Hollywood by storm.
lets face it...these two British lovelies are total 100% hotties!

will and jada, another powerhouse couple.
i just love how tall he is and how short she is...
they look sooo cute together!

"It's YOU. You mean everything to me...you are the first into my head in the morning when I wake up, my last thought before I go to bed, you smile at me in my dreams, when you are sad I feel sad and when I see your true smile, I feel incredible, like there is no other thing around and all I can see is you."

okay, enough with all the lovey dovey business...

hope you beauties have a wonderful weekend :) enjoy!!!

dear one.

a dear friend sent this to me. it made me go hmmmmm and smile :)

Dear One,

Everyone longs to give themselves completely to someone, to have a deep soul relationship with another, to be loved thoroughly and exclusively, but I say “No.” Not until you are satisfied, fulfilled and content with being alone, with giving yourself totally and unreservedly to Me, will you be ready to have the intensely personal and unique relationship that I have planned for you. You will never be united with anyone or anything else until you are united with Me. I want you to stop planning, stop wishing, and start allowing Me to give you the most thrilling plan in existence – one that you cannot even imagine. I want you to have the best. Please, allow Me to bring it to you.

You must keep watching Me expecting the greatest of things. Keep experiencing the satisfaction that I AM. Keep listening and learning the things that I will tell you. Just wait. That’s all. Don’t be anxious. Don’t worry. Don’t look around at the things others have or that I have given them. Don’t look at the things you think you want. Just keep looking up to Me or you will miss what I want to show you. And then, when you are ready, I will surprise you with a love far more wonderful than any you have dreamed of.

You see, until you are ready and until the one I have for you is ready (I am working even at this moment to have you both ready at the same time), until you are both satisfied exclusively with Me and the life I have prepared for you, you won’t be able to experience the love that exemplifies your relationship with Me. This is Perfect Love.

And Dear One, I want you to have this most wonderful love. I want to see in the flesh a picture of your relationship with Me, and to enjoy materially and concretely the everlasting union of beauty, perfection, and love that I offer. Know that I love you utterly. Believe it and be satisfied.

Love,
God

you can't put a price tag on happiness.

In the past couple of weeks, I feel like I finally found the keys to open my heart, mind, body and soul. God has defiantly humbled me beyond words. The feeling I have is unreal and I just can’t describe it. It’s a blessing, knowing certain people come in and out of you’re life for all the right reasons. Sometimes, the reasons are not always given to you at first, but He always reveals himself at the right time. I’ve been truly blessed to have the best of friends, meet genuine new people, and experience true love. I could never thank certain people enough for everything they have done. I’ve been inspired to become a better Christian, daughter, sister, friend, runner, employee and person.
I know; I speak a lot about happiness and being positive on here. I guess you just had to know me a couple years of ago or even early last year. My world has changed dramatically because of my choices and having faith. I’ve learned patience, love and gratitude more in the last couple months than I’ve ever known in my twenty-six years of life. I’m grateful for all the bumps on my path; I had to overcome to get to this place. A place of happiness and joy… I think I’ve finally found my purpose here…not only to inspire myself, but to inspire others as well. Nothing makes me happier than seeing others around me happy and finding their purpose.

I realize life isn’t perfect, but life is what you make it. Everyday, God reveals His love for me and makes me love my life more and more. I use to be one of those people who would look at the positive, happy, go-lucky person and grunt. I often wondered why they are so happy every single day. And, now I know….because I’m that person. I’m not striving to be perfect because I know that’s not possible. I’m just trying to enjoy my life and not take for granted the simple blessings we’ve been given. I’m the kind of happy only He can intensify. I'm grateful for my past, present and all the future blessings...thank you.

Lastly, thank you for reading my blog. You're comments make my heart smile everyday :)

thoughts for adding romance to your relationship

i'm currently reading, Infinite Possibilities by Mike Dooley, and its pretty interesting stuff. the chapter i've come to is all about love and relationships. i love the idea of being in love and relationships, so i just had to share - i found these 10 simple thoughts for adding romance to your relationship pretty insightful. yes, these thoughts may seem like common sense to some, but honestly after i reading, it kinda opened my eyes to things i'd never thought about before. i guess when you see the words in black and white...
sometimes it gives you a different perspective on things. so, here they are...

p.s. i by no means am trying to be a therapist or give relationship advice.
i just feel knowledge is power, and the more you know, the more you grow.

10 simple thoughts to consider for making the most of your romantic relationship, in addition to all the other
guidelines and ideas that may already be serving you.

1. Beyond what’s “necessary,” shed all behavioral expectations you may have for your partner: rid yourself of all behavioral expectations that your partner will have to live up to, and instead keep your main focus on yourself – your own standards and behaviors – so you can add to the relationship rather than take away from it. Doing so will enable you to become your best; you’ll release your partner from our culture’s sometimes implied “job” of entertaining and making you happy, and you’ll create room for the unexpected.

2. Dwell on what’s right: Nothing can doom a relationship faster than dwelling on what’s wrong. In life you get what you think about, so if you’re constantly focusing on what’s wrong in your relationship or in the other person, look out! You just magnify it and project more of the same into the future. “We’re so different; I don’t know why we ever got together!” – chances are that if you’ve been drawn together with someone to the point of entering into a serious relationship, you have far more in common than you’ve even realized, whether or not your similarities have manifested into the same extracurricular activities or not. What you likely do have in common is life assumptions and core beliefs, and it’s likely just as true now as it was when you first met. Another irony here is that it’s the little differences between partners that actually attracted them to one another in the first place.

3. Don’t assume: If you’re assuming something about another, it means you’re guessing. And if you’re guessing, it means that communication and, more importantly, understanding has broken down in the relationship. In absence of actually knowing what’s going on, we make up the missing pieces, and usually when we make stuff up, we tend to listen to our fears more than what we know to be true.

4. Accept that there will be challenges: Enjoy and appreciate the challenges in your relationship, because by their mere existence, they create the perfect opportunity for you to master the areas of your life and yourself where you have the least understanding. Our relationships and our partners are not accidentally in our lives. Your partner’s qualities are often the very qualities that will bring about the perfect challenges that help you grow where you most need – and want – to grow.

5. Let the other person love you in his or her own way: This is presumably what attracted you in the first place – your partner’s unique personality and how he or she expresses him-or herself. Don’t expect to be treated exactly as you treat the other; it’s not fair and it only draws attention to your own perceived shortcomings of the other person, creating issues where there were indeed none.

6. Talk smart: Talking – communication- some say is that most important ingredient for a successful relationship, but I would add that it’s critical to choose your words wisely. Your talking can do as much damage, if not more, than silence.

7. Accept responsibility: This isn’t about what happened; it’s about how you reacted to it. Your emotional reaction to anything is based on your perception of it. You have choices about how you respond, and first course of action is to reexamine your understanding and perspectives, which is virtually impossible if you blame others for how you feel.

8. Fight fire with kindness: When someone is angry with you, it’s because somehow he feels threatened; he’s usually afraid of somehow losing his grip on the situation. Kindness truly is power, and it’s a powerful person who can live be a code of kindness at all times.

9. Have your own life and your own interests, and strive to be a fulfilled outside the relationship as you hope to be within it: Relationships should be to life what an excellent dessert is to a fabulous meal; they should never be the meal itself. Your relationships should add to your life, not be your life.

10. Make your own happiness job number one: Nothing else you might ever do in your relationships could be more important to you and, just as important, to those you love. You exponentially add to the joy of your relationships when you make your happiness job number one.

also, mentioned in the book...

Relationships

The key, of course, is self-love. And the only way to love yourself is to first be yourself: authentic, genuine, and natural, which will lead you to understanding yourself, which as in all things, brings appreciation, acceptance, and compassion.

Follow your feelings, your heart, and your mind. Forget about appearances and what other people think, because no one else can know the secrets in your soul nor the promise that you came here to fulfill.

Where you are is never who you are. Yet, often where you are is all other people ever get to see of you. Only you know the truth about who you are.

When you don’t know what to do, don’t do anything! Wait. Wait until you do know, because if you stay true to yourself, eventually you will reach the point of knowing.

In Love
 1. Honor yourself between relationships:
This first point about being in relationships is actually about when you’re not in one! Each of our lives has seasons, and what is right for one person may not be right for another. Whether you are single by nature or whether you are between relationships, your life now affords you opportunities for growth, adventure, and self-discovery that do not exist presently for those in a relationship. Enjoy this time. Use it. Appreciate every moment while being unconcerned about what anyone else thinks.

2. Measure your relationships by the love that’s been shared:
Too often relationships tend to be measured by how long they lasted instead of how much love or fun was experienced. There’s a belief that “great” relationships withstand the test of time. Since when has a clock or a calendar been the measuring unit for love, emotional growth, or happiness? Quality if what counts, not quantity. What’s important in any relationship is that it is fulfilling, rewarding experience in terms of either learning or happiness.

3. Understand your motivations:
Entering a relationship when you’re not ready or for the wrong reasons can make it an unhappy experience from the start. We have an obligation to ourselves to understand what motivates us, and that obligation extends to our partners as well. Relationships can’t make you happy; they only intensify whatever you already feel about yourself and life. Other people are like a mirror: they reflect your attitudes about life and yourself back to you. Your first objective, for the benefit of yourself and your relationships, is to make sure that you’re independently happy. When you’re happy and joy is your motivator, the rest of the details in your life will take care of themselves, and usually though not always, those around you will be happiest.

4. You decide what’s meant to be:
Why is it that in most areas of life, people believe in free will, infinite possibilities and our inherent, natural born freedom, yet when it comes to relationships, they believe that some are meant to be? It’s probably the romantic in all of us, and in that sense, when everything is rolling along smoothly in your relationship, it’s pleasant to fantasize that perhaps the Universe saw the two of you as being such incredible complements that is preordained the union. Yet should the relationship become challenging, the notion of your union being “meant to be” can mischaracterize everything!

5. Relationships are an adventure:
Just as in life, in an adventure there is hope, challenge, promise, and mystery. Relationships are not “work,” per se, as we so often hear. I understand the point trying to be conveyed when they are called “work.” and yes, all relationships, like all adventures, are an ongoing labor of love. But given that most in our society still consider “work” to be a four-letter word, attaching this label or characterization to your relationship is unwise. A firm belief in anything, including the presumption that relationships are “work,” will bring about that reality. The truth is that relationships don’t have characteristics until the people in them define them. They’re not easy or hard, challenging or rewarding, work or play until someone says so. A bigger truth here is not that relationships are this, that, or the other thing; it’s that individuals in relationships see them as this, that, or the other thing, and so they become. Rather than working on the relationship, each person “should be” mindfully “working” on his or her own life perceptions, which is true regardless of whether or not we are in a romantic relationship. It’s just that such relationships create fantastic opportunity for exactly this, as your partner so often reveals to you your own perceived strengths and weaknesses, and understandings and misunderstandings. It’s not that the relationship is work; it’s that it creates ideal conditions for us to learn about ourselves. Thoughts become things.

happy hump day peeps!

LIVE

I didn’t always know how to live. For a long time, I just survived. Then one day, after having enough of getting by, I chose to go in, really chose to go into life. I taught myself how and learned to live fully – outrageously, boldly, courageously, authentically, joyfully, peacefully, and passionately – in every moment! I learned how to be present in every moment in laughter, delight, and appreciation. We each have a choice in every moment: love or fear, joy or pain, darkness or light. It’s in making that choice that we begin to fully live.

LOVE

Love is where everything starts and ends. We all want to love and be loved – unconditionally. It’s been said that we have three main purposes in life: to love ourselves, to love others, and to love what we do. It seems pretty simple, but it can feel so complicated sometimes. Yet when we open our hearts to love ourselves and love others, we truly begin to feel alive and are able to give and receive.

GIVE

It starts with giving to ourselves. This is the one we so often forget. We may be good at giving to others and being of service, but if we’ve forgotten to give to ourselves, everything goes awry. Giving is a natural cycle of life. If we give, we receive, and when we receive, we give another person the opportunity to give. We often forget this little nuance. When we live fully in the flow of giving and receiving, a whole new world of joy, light, laughter, and love is bestowed upon us.

When we open ourselves up to living, loving, and giving fully, the magic, mystery, and miracles of life shower upon us.

there is only one happiness in life: to love and be loved.

"Love is patient, love is kind, it does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs."

i love me some me.

have you ever looked in the mirror?

I mean past the physical appearance, but deep down to the person you really are.

What do you see?

I see a... beautiful, confident, intelligent, kind-hearted, silly, thoughtful, ambitious, generous, and faithful woman.

I’ll be honest (since i love ya'll)…I haven’t always felt this way about myself. Actually, up until a couple months ago, I started to slowly change my thought process and feelings about me. I’ve finally learned and realized that loving yourself first is a must. I mean truly love yourself! This means…caring about your appearance, taking care of your body – exercising and watching what you eat, etc. My whole life, I’ve been told how beautiful I am. Yes, I believe I’m an attractive female, but I’ve always struggled with comparing myself to every other woman. As women, we do this sometimes. Confidence hasn’t always been my strong suit. It’s getting A LOT better though. And, others have noticed. Confidence can be an attractive energy, only when its not cockiness. I use to be scared to wear certain things because of what others would think…now, I’m like who cares! As long as I keep it classy and I feel good, then that’s all that matters. Loving Ashley is the best change I could have ever made for myself - because loving me first will allow everything else in my life to fall into place. For so long I relied on others to bring me joy and happiness. Although, they are somewhat responsible, but you have to bring yourself joy and happiness and others will only enhance what you have created. My philosophy was always putting others first. I've learned you need to put yourself first in order to help others. Recently, I feel myself smiling for no reason at all. At first it was a little strange to catch myself doing this, but I realized its because of feeling happy :) Everyday is a good day, because I make a conscious effort to make it good. My thoughts and feelings are what create the world around me. All of this is a work in progress, it doesn't just happen over night...but the feeling be hide knowing the changes are happening is amazing. You gotta be your biggest fan and know its okay to toot your own horn sometimes.

can i get a do-over?

some say change is good. i don't agree with those people. well, sort of. i want change, but i want certain things in my life to remain. i've never been one to walk away easily from a situation i've put my whole heart into. where i am now is in result of the mistakes i've made or things i did or didn't do. why didn't i do certain things to avoid where i am now? because i didn't know things would come to this. maybe because i took for granted what i had. maybe i never pictured that person not being in my life again. so many maybes, too many maybes...i hate maybes. comfort is an easy cop out...we do the same things because its comfortable, we stay in certain situations because there comfortable, but whatever happened to just wanting to be with that person because you feel their the one? the one that knows you a little to well, the one who's seen you mature into a beautiful person, the person who's always had your heart, the person that always makes you smile, the person that makes you feel safe, the one person that you could never stay mad at for too long. you don't meet this person twice. you don't have the same feelings for someone else. everything else is new - new person and new feelings. we all struggle with ourselves, each other...relationships aren't easy all the time. i'm not ready to throw off the boxing gloves just yet. sometimes you gotta fight for what you want. fight until you can't anymore. you just can't make people feel the way you do, but gosh it would be nice. sometimes i wish, i had some super power and you could see inside me...see my broken heart, my thoughts, my true feelings...my everything. change is a hard process. i know, i'm preaching to the choir. i'm not ready for change at this point in my life. i'm not one to regret, but for the first time i regret not doing what i truly felt for the last couple months. i regret taking things for granted. i regret not standing my ground and making it clear, this is it. were gonna do it. were gonna make this work. people make decisions of their own, but ultimately He has the say so in what happens. that explains why this person has been in my life for so long. regardless, of everything we've been through i still care for this person a lot and still want them in my life. the feeling of them no longer being there is just unbearable. its gut-wrenching and makes me sick to my stomach. sometimes, i hate being a woman and caring so darn much. i wish the changes i'm going through in general would be under different circumstances. it would make things a lot easier, but hey, who said life's easy right!although, change is here...i wish it would go away.
