gratitude, love and change.

my heart is so full.
i've finally come to peace with being in pa.
God has been with me along this difficult journey, and He
continues to guide me on this amazing adventure.
my heart is full because...
He is answering my prayers.
of course on His time, not mine.
God is continuously giving me a loving and forgiving heart.
i feel it. and, this makes me so happy.
i've asked Him to change me.
to help me become the woman i was created to be.
slowly, but surely He is doing just that.
this makes my heart smile. BIG.
God, knows i'm not perfect nor do i try...
but, everyday He gives me another chance to do better.
to learn. to grow. to love. to smile. to spread His word.
my heart is so full because.. He loves me more than i can imagine.
this move to pa has certainly made me cling onto my faith,
and i have no plans on letting go.
i wonder if this was His plan all along.
He is the glue in my life.
i'm overwhelmed with gratitude.
what an amazing feeling...words cannot describe.

i pray everyday for all of my bloggie friends...
you guys certainly have helped me during this chapter in my life as well :)

do you ever look at old pictures...

and, say to yourself - what the {beeeep} was i thinkin'...

normally, i would probably think that

apparently, i thought it was cool to put dirty money in my mouth - ewwwww!
that picture was taken at 4 in the morning, after a long night of celebrating a fab bachelorette party.  i don't even know where to begin to explain the second picture - let's just i was playin' dress up. lol. and, the third picture...who goes swimming wearing a plastic cap??? this girl does. hello, remember i'm mixed and i just got my hair did - why would i ruin a perfectly good do... just to go swimming?! ;) don't judge me please. lastly, no words for that one. just being lil' ole me. so, i think we're all officially besties since you've seen this gosh awful pictures.
gotta have fun with this cray cray thing called life :)

do you and enjoy doin' you.
have lots of fun.
soak up every single minute of everyday.
laugh - it cures everything.
love, love, love and love some more.

life is simply beautiful.

and, don't forget to wear a pretty crown :)

i believe.

i believe in... God, and i believe with all my heart, He has a plan for everyone and sometimes we may not understand those plans, but we have to put all of our trust in Him.

i believe... that all people are good at heart, no matter what they say or do - my trust in people has not diminished.

i believe... in love.

i believe... relationships are worth fighting for, but you can't be the only one fighting.

i believe in... people - i will never give up on the people i truly care about, even if they break my heart a million times.

i believe... knowledge is power.

i every struggle there is a lesson to be learned. listen and watch closely.

i believe in...prayer - it works.

i believe... walking away is easier than to risk failing or getting hurt - doesn't mean walking away is always the answer.

i believe... you gotta have faith - in everything.

i believe... sending a card in the mail is much personable than sending an email.

i believe in...gratitude. be grateful for EVERYTHING.

i believe in...manners - its help to have them.

i believe...what you give out, you get back in return.

i believe...its not my job to judge, only one person has that responsibility.

i believe in...patience - its difficult to come by, but practice makes perfect.

i believe...each and everyone of us is here with a purpose - its up to you, to find out what your purpose is.

i believe...ANYTHING is possible. anything.

i believe...words are the worst kind of weapon - choose them wisely. {still learning this one}

i believe...picking up the phone versus sending a text doesn't take much.

i believe in...sitting at the dinner table together as a family.

i believe in...reminding those you love everyday of how you feel about them.

i believe...the relationship you have with God, is the most important of them all.

i to others and not expecting anything in return is one of the best rewards.

i believe...someone can come into your life and turn your whole world upside down.

i believe...helping those in need will make an impact in your life forever.

i believe...a smile and a laugh are very contagious.

i believe...a person can change for the better or worse.

i believe...a friendship based on love and respect will last forever.

i believe...children are God's greatest gifts and i cannot wait to be a mother some day.

i have to love yourself before you can love someone else.

i believe...a positive attitude will get you far in life.

i believe...people are always gonna talk, so what? do you!

i believe...a mothers love is something that cannot be described. {love my mommy}

i believe...caring about what others think is a waste of time, its YOUR life.

i is soooo important and its something many of us take for granted.

i believe..."do-overs" don't exist, but you have the option to write a different script.

i believe...treating those how you want to be treated is the golden rule.

i seizing the moment before its too late - second chances are very rare.

just a couple of my beliefs :)

God's Lessons

Start with God - the first step in learning is bowing down to God.
Proverbs 1:7 MSG

When it comes to life's lessons, we can learn them the easy way, or we can learn them the hard way. The easy way can be summed up as follows: when God teaches us a lesson, we learn it - the first time. Unfortunately, too many of us catch on much more slowly than that.

When we resist God's instruction, He continues to teach us, whether we like it or not. Our challenge, then, is to discern God's lessons from the experiences of everyday life. Hopefully, we learn those lessons sooner rather than later - because the sooner we do, the sooner our heavenly Father can move on to the next lesson, and the next, and the next...

True learning can take place at every age of life,
and it doesn't have to be in the curriculum plan.
- Suzanne Dale Ezell

This powerful message is from my devotion book - it touched me, so I thought I would share. Recently, I've stumbled across some amazing (seriously amazing) Christian bloggers and boy can they write! I especially love and adore how deeply they express their love and faith in God. Most of their posts leave me inspired, in tears (good kinda tears) and a deeply touched heart.

Check 'em out...

hope everyone has a wonderful and blessed week :)

snickers, candy corn, twizzlers...oh my!

heeeeyyyyy all you candy lovers...

yeah, i'm talking to you!

guess what i read this morning...

according to eat this, not that article from the womens health magazine...

Three miniature Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups fill your belly with more sugar than a glazed doughnut; half a pack of Skittles has more sugar than a scoop of Haagen-Dazs Cookies and Cream Ice Cream; nine Twizzlers carry as many calories as a Wendy’s Double Stack Burger.

These that's scary! So unless you follow the Michael Phelps workout regimen, you’re going to suffer for your sweet tooth. Make every swap outlined here just once and you’ll save nearly 400 calories. Do them multiple times and keep yourself out of the fat-man suit this Halloween.

Or, you could dress up as ya girl above - Rihanna would never get caught dead eating a snickers in public ;)

whats your favorite treat?

i personally lovvvve...

milk duds
tootsie rolls
milky ways

yeah, clearly i'm the one with the sweet tooth problem :)

anything and everything.

Consider this...

Anything that annoys you is "for" teaching you patience.

Anyone who abandons you is "for" teaching you how to stand up on your own two feet.

Anything that angers you is "for" teaching you forgiveness and compassion.

Anything that has power over you is "for" teaching you how to take your power back.

Anything you hate is "for" teaching you unconditional love.

Anything you fear is "for" teaching you courage to overcome your fear.

Anything you can't control is "for" teaching you how to let go and trust the Universe."

- Jackson Kiddard, author & polymath.

just a little food for thought :)
happy tuesday.

weekend recaps are the best.

oh, monday...

repeat after me..."this is gonna be a great week"

because i said so :)

soooooo, yesterday i literally spent the whole day shopping.

i never do that. seriously.

i drove down to hagerstown, md and visited the prime outlets.

here are some of my lovely purchases...

{1} :: aldo purse - on sale for $15
{2} ::  two new good reads for my inner nerd :)
{3} :: few shirts, cardigan and dress from banana republic - all on sale
{4} ::  necklace and bracelet from banana - on sale  and...michael kors watch - not on sale, but sooooo worth it because i've been eyeing it forever!!
i spent a tiny bit more than planned, but sometimes you just gotta treat yourself ;) and, since i rarely splurge on myself...i thought go head and buy it! i mean, seriously who would pass up a $15 dollar purse and i needed a fall purse! all of the items from banana are for work! i really needed some new work clothes. and, i have no excuse for the watch. i just really wanted it! so, i got it! no buyers remorse here..ahahaha :) at least almost everything i purchased was on sale!!! ok, so that totally justifies my purchases. i feel better now. lol.

miss brandi just posted her re-cap of our blate, so i "borrowed" one her pics from our blate ;)

isn't she gorg?!? go check out her bloggy now... Home Team Dreams
happy monday :)

happy fall.

A woman was asked by a coworker,

'What is it like to be a Christian?'

The coworker replied, 'It is like being a pumpkin.'

God picks you from the patch, brings you in,

And washes all the dirt off of you.

Then He cuts off the top and scoops out all the yucky stuff.

He removes the seeds of doubt, hate, and greed.

Then He carves you a new smiling face and

Puts His light inside of you to shine for all the world to see.'

I liked this enough to send it to all the pumpkins in my patch :)
{gotta love forwards at work}

howdy to all my new followers!!!

trying to be better.

Remember the road to finding ultimate success & happiness is not a straight path or pothole free.

It winds, has sudden sharp turns, & sometimes several
detours you must explore before you finally get to the end.

Don't get discouraged when you head on direction w/ one destination in mind & when you get lost.

Explore the many detours that could lead you there & to other places because...there always... ARE better ways & sometimes even better paths for you.

Remember: you won't know or find them unless you stay persistent & keep trying.

Yes. There ARE a few roads that leads you to success.

Explore your options.

Try new paths OR detours if you feel
like you aren't on right one!

Stay aware, be brave, proactive, & inspire yourself. :)

in other news...
i love signing onto blogger and reading sooo many inspiration, funny and cute blogs. even when i'm feeling a little guys always know how to make a girl cheer up :) have you ever read a post that makes you go hmmmm?? i read a post the other day that really hit some with me. to sum it up...basically words can be used as weapons. sometimes, i can fight nasty...when it comes to words. this isn't something i'm proud of and i really try to be more careful with what i say and how i say it. but, when your hurting, all of consideration goes out the window sometimes. however, thats no excuse. i've def said some mean stuff in the last couple days and of course, instantly regretted saying them. {i just need to carry around a roll of duck tape} in all seriousness...i need to learn to "fight" fair! i'm sorry...can only go so far once the damage has been done.

how do you control yourself during heated arguments or
stop yourself from lashing out on someone because your hurting?

happy tuesday!

i'm back in pa {insert sad face}
the visit home to nc was wonderful.
i def took advantage of the time i had to
spend with family and close friends.
i didn't take as many pictures as i would have liked to
because i was just so happy to be home :)

the mickey mouse birthday party was a hit.
lil' baby j turned one years old. awwww.

i had a much needed girls night with a
couple friends and met some new peeps.

of course, i spent A LOT of time with my bestie.
oh, how i've missed her.

going back home after not seeing my family and friends
def makes me appreciate them that much more.
truly, it does.

on another note...
this past weekend i closed another chapter in my life
that should have been closed a long time ago, but i chose to ignore all the signs.
eventually, my heart will heal and hopefully someday i'll be able to appreciate the good parts of my life he was involved in and the good times we shared, but until then i'm trying not to be bitter. i have learned a lot about myself because of this person. He's probably trying to save me from another heart ache and making room for the person i'm suppose to spend my life with. its truly unfortunate the way things have ended, but obviously God has other plans.

Tuesday, October 4, 2011

wise up.

Access Your Inner Guide

Many spiritual paths exalt the development of wisdom as a quality far greater than book knowledge. Wisdom combines intelligence, intuition and experience. Self-knowledge, sincerity and service are hallmarks of a wise person—who might show up in the form of a small child or an aged sage.

Here’s a fun way to seek wisdom in your life: Write down a question on a piece of paper and place it on your altar or in a special place. Meditate and ask for wisdom and trust that you will be provided with guidance. Throughout your day, be aware of how your environment gives you subtle (or not so subtle) clues to your question. You may receive an email, stumble upon a book or have a conversation that offers valuable feedback. At the end of the day, reflect on the signs you’ve received and open the paper. Wisdom is at your fingertips!

sharing is caring.

so, during my lunch break sometimes... i sit at my desk and surf the web. i like to read. what a dork, right? whateva's...knowledge is power! at least in my book it is. anyways, i came across lisa nichols page and read her post of "the power of sharing" - very interesting stuff. just by the first two sentences i was taken back. because her words are so true!

this statement really made me think: I've learned that there's a power in consistency. The more I peel back my layers and give to you, the more of you that you give to me.

anyhoo...its a pretty, short and interesting read. take a look :)

The Power of Sharing by Lisa Nichols

Peeling back the layers of yourself can leave you feeling unprotected and emotionally exposed before another person.

But vulnerability is necessary when building any relationship.

Peeling away your layers allows people to see who you really are. And there's freedom in that. It's a freedom you should celebrate and embrace, not shy away from.

Everywhere I go people tell me, "You're just like you were on Oprah."

Whether intended or not, I embrace their comments as wonderful compliments. Whenever or wherever you see me, you're going to get Lisa -- so much so it might surprise you.

I've learned that there's a power in consistency. The more I peel back my layers and give to you, the more of you that you give to me.

It's amazing what can happen when individuals have the courage to honestly open up with one another. It can take your relationships -- with your children, your sisters or brothers, your mother or father, or with the man or the woman in your life -- to a much deeper level.

Try it with this little exercise.

Find one or two people in your life and complete the following sentence to them at least seven times:

"If you really knew me, you'd know that I..."

Don't expect them to necessarily open up to you in return. They may or they may not. But I want you to really share yourself with them.

For me it'd go something like this:

"If you really knew me, you'd know that sometimes I get really scared or really frustrated... If you really knew me, you'd know that I love what I do every day... If you really knew me, you'd know that I want people to see the real me, but I'm often afraid to show them."

Whatever it may be for you, peel back the layers. Give others more of you so that they can give you more of them. You may be surprised how people respond -- pleasantly surprised!

If you're feeling a bit wary about trying this with a friend practice it alone first. Take a few minutes right now to complete this exercise in front of a mirror and those layers will fall away that much easier.
