one flaw in women.

Women have strengths that amaze men.

They bear hardships and they carry burdens,
but they hold happiness, love and joy.

They smile when they want to scream.

They sing when they want to cry.

They cry when they are happy and laugh when they are nervous.

They fight for what they believe in.

They stand up to injustice.

They don't take "no" for an answer when they believe there is a better solution.

They go without so their family can have.

They go to the doctor with a frightened friend.

They love unconditionally.

They cry when their children excel and cheer when their friends get awards.

They are happy when they hear about a birth or a wedding.

Their hearts break when a friend dies.

They grieve at the loss of a family member, yet they are
strong when they think there is no strength left.

They know that a hug and a kiss can heal a broken heart.

Women come in all shapes, sizes and colors.

They'll drive, fly, walk, run or e-mail you to show how much they care about you.

The heart of a woman is what makes the world keep turning.

They bring joy, hope and love.

They have the compassion and ideas.

They give moral support to their family and friends.

Women have vital things to say and everything to give.

HOWEVER, IF THERE IS ONE FLAW IN WOMEN,
IT IS THAT THEY FORGET THEIR WORTH.

y'all are simply amazing.
don't ever forget that :)

your life as a movie.

you’ve heard this before…you create your own reality.

Whatever is happening to you is not an accident, nor is it a reward or punishment being meted out.

This may be a hard concept to wrap your mind around, but once you’ve fully embraced the fact that you are the “producer, director, writer and actor” (and sometimes the film critic) in your own full-length feature film, your life will start to make sense.

There are always ups and downs along the journey.

It’s the way you handle life’s plot twists that define your character and, ultimately, your happiness.
To be truly happy, live in the present moment.

As you watch your story unfold, keep in mind that you have the power to choose whether you are the hero or the victim in your own movie. All the world’s your stage, so go out and create the life you want!

how to get to your destination.

by Adam Thomson 1/6/02

1 - Plan the Trip...

Proverbs 13 v 14 - The teaching of the wise is a fountain of life , turning a man from the snares of death

2 - Keep your eyes on the road...

Proverbs 4 v 20 - My son pay attention to what I say , listen closely to my words

* Beware of dream robbers*

3 - Watch out for other traffic...

Isaiah 30 v 21 - When you turn to the right or to the left, your ears will hear a voice behind you saying "this is the way walk in it"

* Be courteous to others on the way*

4 - Enjoy the sites along the way...

Ecc 8 v 15 - So I commend the enjoyment of life because there is nothing better for an man under the sun than to eat drink and be glad. Then joy will accompany him in his work all the days of the life God has given him under the sun!

*Some people are not interested in the trip they just want to get there*

its all about me.

okay, sooooo...i have a bunch of new followers!!!

yayyy!!! i always get excited that someone other than me thinks this blog is entertaining!

so, maybe its time to welcome you guys and share a little about myself...

if you don't already know what i look like...please see below ;)

this chicks a little full of herself, right?

i promise...i'm really not conceited at all. lol

sooooo....whats the story be hide the blog title?

what are you? that’s the first question i get when i meet someone new...and in my head im thinking….seriously? well, allow me to introduce myself…mixed girl is who i am…the "politically" correct term would be bi-racial. now my racial background does not define who i am, but its something i embrace and take pride in. my mother is from a country in south America called panama and my father is from the good ‘ol U.S. of A. hes Caucasian. so, yeah that would make me a mutt. hence, i can wear my hair naturally curly or straight...yeah, i've got options. be jealous ;)

born in fort bragg…which is the army town of fayetteville, nc. that would make me an army brat. anyone who knows anything about the army knows moving is pretty much standard, so that’s what my family did. we moved to Honolulu, Hawaii for about five years where my younger sister was born and then moved back to north carolina. why? why? why? can you imagine how my life would be now…living on a beautiful sandy island, wearing swim suits 24/7, having a year around glowing tan, possibly learning how to surf and hula…WTH? back to reality…now, i’m not talking smack about the great tar heel state, but c’mon who wouldn’t wanna live in freakin hawaii? don’t lie. just think you could be sitting on the beach right now with one of those fruity drinks with the umbrellas; you know the ones im talking about…

any hoo, back to mixed girl…im a pretty simple lady with a huge heart. i love love love my family and the close, small circle of friends i have. some may say im a little old fashioned and a huge nerd. i love to read. i have a strange obsession with the new york yankees. yes, i can admit that and it has nothing to do with the fact that um hello they have like the BEST looking players around. Ohmygod! ok, let me stop.

ice cream, pizza, coconut, popcorn and cheerwine… i could probably live off of those five things, but for the most part i have healthy eating habits. typically, i eat five small meals each day. im a huge girlie girl, but don’t let that fool ya…i can get down and dirty too. however, if i could wear dresses everyday of the week i would. theres just nothing more feminine then a cute dress with a sexy pair of high heels – another favorite of mine because, yes, im a shorty…

not a morning person at all. yes, i was one of the kids my mom would have to literally drag me out of bed. don’t talk to me until about 9:30 a.m. on most days. i love my sleep. love to take pictures…not of myself…just other people. although, im not a very talented photographer i still like to take them. i have a loud laugh, especially when somethings really funny to me and then my shoulders bounce a little…my family picks on me about this. i still send mail through the postal service – in this day and age email can be so impersonal and who doesn’t like getting mail out of their mail box? (Minus the bills type of mail) you can always find me touching my hair…it’s a habit i hate, but typically when im nervous, bored, waiting around for something or someone, or maybe feeling a little flirty – guarantee i will almost always have one of my hands twisting or messing with my hair. love surprises, but will demand hints because im like a little kid and just cant wait. love the outdoors, but am also content with staying in and doing absolutely nothing at all.

last year, i started running. i now run with a group. i've ran several 5K races and a couple months ago ran my first half marathon. i typically workout three to four times a week. working out has just become addicting to me...as much as i workout, you'd think i'd be a size two, but i have hips and thighs...thank you, mom. i love to dance...any excuse i get to shake my booty, i'm there!

i see myself as a pretty optimistic person and try to see the best in every situation. i wasn't always this way. i guess that's life for ya...you learn, grow and keep on truckin'. i have a relationship with Christ and that's the most important relationship to me. i just love life and everyday is truly a blessing to me. i value my relationships with the people i love. i'm a reliable, honest and fun friend. if i wasn't me...i'd be friends with me. if that makes any sense at all. lol.

twenty-something years old and trying to piece together my life one day at a time. im a single gal who one day would like to marry the mysterious prince charming…you know the guy who rides around on the white horse and kisses you so passionately your left breathless? maybe have 5 kids, 3 dogs and a fish. big house with a paula dean type of kitchen and carrie bradshaw walk-in bedroom closet. let's not forget the white picket fence…fairy tale style...too much? hey, its my dream not yours.

ok, its lunch time. toddles for now…i think i shared a little more then originally planned, but that’s alright at least were not strangers anymore.

fit and health thursday.

thursdays are going to be my fit and health posts.
we can all use some good health tips, right?

summer time is officially here. this means...swim suit season is here. yay!

now, i'm not striving to be the next Victoria Secret's swim suit model, but i'm "improving" my life style.
being healthy and fit is the best gift you can give to yourself.

want to know what types of foods you should be putting in your mouth?
i found a great article on self.com about the 20 best foods for weight loss

Almonds - These filling, snackable bites can help keep your blood sugar steady. (12 almonds equals one serving)

Apples - Credit their high-fiber status—4 to 5 g each—which fills you up. Plus, the antioxidants in apples may help prevent metabolic syndrome, a condition marked by excess belly fat or an "apple shape."

Black beans - Beans are super fat fighters because they contain the ideal combination of fat-busting nutrients—soluble and insoluble fiber, protein, and a type of fat-burning carb called resistant starch.

Cauliflower - Cauliflower is also a vitamin C standout: Just 1/2 cup nets you 36 percent of your daily needs.

Cinnamon - Everything is nice about this spice. Just 1/2 teaspoon each day can help control your blood sugar and prevent the post meal insulin spike that can trigger your body to store fat rather than burn it.

Coffee - Raise your mug to higher metabolism! The caffeine in coffee can raise your resting metabolic rate by about 15 percent, and the effect can last up to four hours—that adds up to 30 to 50 calories burned per day.

Cottage cheese - One half cup low fat cottage cheese offers up 14 g protein for only 81 calories. Studies show that protein can help you feel more satisfied throughout the day, which can help you keep your calories in check without feeling deprived.

Eggs - Egg protein is filling, so you eat less later in the day

Garlic - Strong flavors like garlic may make food more enjoyable so you feel fuller faster.

Lentils - are a bona fide belly flattener. They're high in protein and soluble fiber, two nutrients that stabilize blood sugar levels. Eating them helps prevent insulin spikes that cause your body to create excess fat, especially in the abdominal area.

Olive oil - Like avocados, olive oil has healthy fat that increases satiety, taming your appetite.

Parmesan - Whole dairy may have more conjugated linoleic acid, which might help your body burn fat. And Parmesan is so flavorful, it's easier to stick to one serving.

Pears - Pears deliver a dose of fiber (about 5.5 grams per medium-sized fruit), which helps keep you satisfied long after you eat them

Portobello mushrooms - Portobellos are naturally low in calories and have a "meaty" texture.

Quinoa - Curbing hunger is as easy as piling your plate with this whole grain. It packs both fiber (2.6 g per 1/2 cup) and protein, a stellar nutrient combo that can keep you satisfied for hours.

Red bell peppers - These sweet veggies are super sources of vitamin C, and adequate intake of the nutrient has been associated with having a smaller waist. Plus, C has been shown to bolster immunity and prevent cell damage

Tomatoes – contain oligofructose, a fiber that helps sustain the effects of CCK in your stomach. Bonus: Lycopene, a compound found in tomatoes, has been shown to protect you against sunburn and may help reduce the risk of certain cancers.

Vinegar – increases feeling of satisfaction after a meal.

Wild salmon – keeps your heart healthy and shrinks your waist! Omega-3 fatty acids improve insulin sensitivity – which helps build muscle and decrease belly fat.

Yougart - with its trifecta of carbs, protein and fat, it can stave off hunger by keeping blood sugar levels steady.

get outta here with that mess.

Negative words and negative outcomes have no place in your mind or conversations.
To remove negativity from your life, first you must start with your vocabulary.
Be aware of the words you are using and the words your associates are using. Words do have power.
To defend yourself from these negative effects, sometimes you have do have to change your environment and the people who you associate with on a regular basis.

what's so wrong with trying to be happy?

the cab ride.

hope you guys had a wonderful 4th of july holiday :)

a co-worker sent me the 'forward' email below. a very special email...great reminder of how we
need to be not so much thinking of our own little worlds, but what the "other" person
needs at the very moment we are in contact with them...enjoy!
********************************

I arrived at the address and honked the horn. After waiting a few minutes
I walked to the door and knocked.. 'Just a minute', answered a
frail, elderly voice. I could hear something being dragged across the floor.

After a long pause, the door opened.
A small woman in her 90's stood before me. She was wearing a
print dress and a pillbox hat with a veil pinned on it, like somebody out of a 1940's movie.

By her side was a small nylon suitcase. The apartment looked as if no one had
lived in it for years. All the furniture was covered with sheets.

There were no clocks on the walls, no knickknacks or utensils
on the counters. In the corner was a cardboard box filled with photos and glassware.

'Would you carry my bag out to the car?' she said. I took the suitcase
to the cab, then returned to assist the woman.

She took my arm and we walked slowly toward the curb.

She kept thanking me for my kindness. 'It's nothing', I
told her.. 'I just try to treat my passengers
the way I would want my mother to be treated.'

'Oh, you're such a good boy, she said. When we got in the cab, she gave
me an address and then asked, 'Could you drive through downtown?'

'It's not the shortest way,' I answered quickly..

'Oh, I don't mind,' she said. 'I'm in no hurry. I'm on my way to a hospice.

I looked in the rear-view mirror. Her eyes were glistening. 'I don't have
any family left,' she continued in a soft voice.. 'The doctor says I don't have very
long.' I quietly reached over and shut off the meter.

'What route would you like me to take?' I asked.

For the next two hours, we drove through the city. She showed me
the building where she had once worked as an elevator operator.

We drove through the neighborhood where she and her husband had lived
when they were newlyweds She had me pull up in front of a furniture warehouse that had once
been a ballroom where she had gone dancing as a girl.

Sometimes she'd ask me to slow in front of a particular building or corner and
would sit staring into the darkness, saying nothing.

As the first hint of sun was creasing the horizon,
she suddenly said, 'I'm tired. Let's go now'.

We drove in silence to the address she had given me. It was
a low building, like a small convalescent home, with a driveway that passed under a portico.

Two orderlies came out to the cab as soon as we pulled up. They were
Solicitous and intent, watching her every move. They must have been expecting her.

I opened the trunk and took the small suitcase to
the door. The woman was already seated in a wheelchair.

'How much do I owe you?'
She asked, reaching into her purse.

'Nothing,' I said

'You have to make a living,' she answered.

'There are other passengers,' I responded.

Almost without thinking, I bent and gave her a hug.
She held onto me tightly.

'You gave an old woman a little moment of joy,' she said.
'Thank you.'

I squeezed her hand, and then walked into the dim morning
light.. Behind me, a door shut. It was the sound of the closing of a life..

I didn't pick up any more passengers that shift.
I drove aimlessly lost in thought. For the rest of that day, I could hardly talk.

What if that woman had gotten an angry driver, or one who was impatient to end his shift?

What if I had refused to take the run, or had honked once, then driven away?

On a quick review, I don't think that I have done anything more important in my life.

We're conditioned to think that our lives revolve around great moments.

But great moments often catch us unaware-beautifully
wrapped in what others may consider a small one.

PEOPLE MAY NOT REMEMBER EXACTLY
WHAT YOU DID, OR WHAT YOU SAID ~BUT~THEY WILL
ALWAYS REMEMBER HOW YOU MADE THEM FEEL.

Thank you, my friend...

Life may not be the party we hoped for,
but while we are here...we might as well dance.

this is how we roll...

gosh, i love my girls.
